For some years now, numerous prophets, apostles, and evangelists of prominence and deep faith have all been repeatedly given the same basic and consistent message from the Lord about this nation — that we as a nation have abandoned the Lord and have chosen to worship false gods. The time of our salvation or destruction is near, and we must, as a nation, repent of our sins and return to the Lord or we will suffer the consequences of our misdeeds. The only way for this nation to survive and continue under the Lord's protection and blessings is to return to our true spiritual roots as a nation — to recognize where we have strayed far from the Lord in our actions as a people and how we have become enslaved under the enemies curses. We now need to recognize what are the true foundation stones of this nation and reclaim them.
The faithful remnant from all over this nation are being called to pray for this nation — that we return to the Lord as our only salvation and only hope to be saved. There is no other way for us to survive other than to recognize our past sins, confess them, and repent of them. The beginning of this process is to find those root causes of our departure from the Lord in our history — our past actions that have given Satan and it minions power and authority over this nation — and cleanse these unholy pockets of unforgiveness and woundedness (in other words spiritual strongholds) in our national character so that we may keep our focus upon Him as the only foundation of our nation and not ourselves. Otherwise all we have as a nation to look forward to is death and destruction by our own actions or lack of actions, and the only way to forestall these severe warnings against our nation is to come together in concerted prayer to those places where the enemy claims a hold over us by doing spiritual mapping and on-site fervent intercessory prayer to break the enemies stranglehold over this nation.
Spiritual history (also called spiritual mapping or profiling) is approached on different levels. There is the nation as a whole, the region, and then the local community. All forms of spiritual mapping are valid and important. However, spiritual mapping in all forms needs to be approached from the top down to be effective. Whatever local issues there are to be prayed over are dependent upon the overarching powers and principalities that claim authority and ownership over a nation, region, or community.
We are called as Christians to pray for revival and deliverance — but only as the Lord leads us. While we can have some degree of success in our prayers over local communities against powers and principalities, all we can do is temporary unless we get to the root causes and identify the prevailing powers that claim ownership — albeit illegal. Otherwise we will be returning again and again to the same place. However, in areas where the enemy has held a strong and powerful stranglehold over the site — one of their high places or thrones of power — for so long we may very well be called to return until the site is cleaned. To achieve spiritual victory over the powers and principalities we encounter, we must get to the root, and the root for our nation is as close to the beginning as we can get. For our purposes right now that is Virginia — the first permanent English colony that laid the cultural and spiritual imprint on the history of this nation and direction we as a people would take. In reality, Virginia was the beginning of the nation.
Our nation has a checkered beginning, but the seed that was first planted in this nation that grew as the mother plant — the tap root — for the new nation was here in Virginia. All following plantings, no matter how important or successful they became or even how much they were to outshine this beginning, succeed the first seed as far as our spiritual roots go. What follows is a look at the spiritual foundation of this nation — at least as far as the original tap root of the nation goes. This is not a recitation of the historical facts to be found in text books, but a look beyond the physical facts we know to the spiritual foundations (the spiritual truths) underlying them.
